Independent film and television producers Sarah Teale and Sian Edwards have been in partnership since 2000. Teale-Edwards Productions, LLC has built a reputation as a cutting edge entertainment and investigative documentary production company. Their shows were nominated for 6 Emmys in 2007 and won 3 Emmys in 2008.
Their award-winning productions have aired on A&E, AMC, Court TV, Food Network, HBO, PBS, the BBC and Channel 4 (UK). Their recent productions include the documentary films Dealing Dogs (Emmy nominated for Best Investigative Documentary) and Hacking Democracy (Emmy nominated for Best Investigative Documentary) for HBO; the lifestyle series Everyday Italian (winner of 3 Emmys including Outstanding Lifestyle Program) for Food Network and the The Dalai Lama: Peace and Prosperity (Official Selection at The Tribeca Film Festival) for National Geographic.
Teale-Edwards have also provided production services to leading world networks. Their many clients include Channel 4's Da Ali G Show and 100 Greatest series, ITV's So Graham Norton, and the BBC's Absolutely Fabulous in New York.
Sarah Teale, Partner/Producer
Sarah Teale founded Teale Productions in 1988 after working at PBS for six years. She went into partnership with Sian Edwards in 2000 and has produced films for HBO, AMC, A&E, PBS, Court TV, Channel 4 and the BBC.
Sarah has produced a number of films for HBO. For HBO America Undercover Sarah produced Dealing Dogs, an intense look at the world of an undercover animal rights activist; Bellevue: Inside Out, a year inside the locked psychiatric wards at Bellevue Hospital; and Mumia Abu Jamal: A Case For Reasonable Doubt?, an investigation into the highly controversial case of a black journalist on death row. Mumia Abu Jamal was also produced for Channel 4 (UK) and received a Cable Ace Award nomination.
For HBO Documentary Films Presents, Sarah and her business partner Sian Edwards produced Hacking Democracy, a high-profile film investigating electronic voting machine fraud. Sarah has also produced Death on a Factory Farm, an investigative documentary exposing conditions at factory farms across the country, for HBO Documentary Films.
Among other films, Sarah has also produced a documentary on the playwright Sam Shepard, Sam Shepard: Stalking Himself, for BBC Bookmark and PBS Great Performances. This documentary won the Gold Plaque Award at the Intercom International Competition, the Gold Camera Award at the US International Film & Video Festival, and the Gold Telly Award. Sarah also produced Horst P. Horst: Sixty Years & Still in Vogue for the BBC and A&E.
Sian Edwards, Partner/Producer
Sian Edwards has produced a wide range of topical, factual, entertainment and investigative programming.
For Food Network, Sian executive produced Everyday Italian with Giada De Laurentiis and Good Deal with Dave Lieberman. She also executive produced the Food Network's first original web series; Eat This with Dave Lieberman, which went on to become Dave Does. Her entertainment programming also includes producing the BBC's live Millennium Broadcast with Dame Edna from Times Square and developing and producing the movie review show Flicks for Channel 4 (UK).
Sian's documentary work includes executive producing and directing a two hour special for A&E entitled MillionHeirs exploring the lives of Americas richest children and executive producing the explosive film Hacking Democracy for HBO Documentary Films Presents with her business partner Sarah Teale. She was also the producer and co-director of the Official Tribeca Film Festival selection, The Dalai Lama: Peace and Prosperity for National Geographic.
For UK television, Sian has also produced the comedy documentary Star Wars or Bust for Channel 4 and assistant produced the BBC films Smallpox 2002: Silent Weapon and The Oklahoma Bomber.
Sian's production service work includes, overseeing the U.S. production for HBO/Channel 4's Da Ali G Show, Channel 4's So Graham Norton in NY, and the BBC's Absolutely Fabulous. Her work as a production manager included A&E's Role Reversal, BBC's Jamie Oliver's Christmas Special, The Leslie Garrett Show, Music Live with Lou Reed and the UK number one music video Another Chance for Roger Sanchez.
Sian has an MFA from Columbia University Film School and worked in feature film production for Woody Allen before partnering with Sarah Teale in 2000 to form Teale-Edwards Productions.
